When purchased in November 2012, Union Street was a two-family home in the West Bergen section of Jersey City that featured an unattractive facade and an outdated interior.
These drawbacks, along with the property’s awkward floor plan, dissuaded many potential homeowners and allowed the property to be purchased at a discounted price of US$140,000.
At the time of purchase, the Acquisitions Team saw past the property’s poor condition with the vision of transforming Union Street into one of the most impressive single family homes in the neighborhood. The renovation, which spanned four months, was highlighted by a massive layout transformation that combined the top floor, which was previously used as a cramped rental unit, to seamlessly incorporate it with the other levels of the property. Additionally, the parlor level, which was previously a constricted two-bedroom, one-bathroom unit, was reconfigured to create a spacious, open layout kitchen, living, and dining area. The spacious kitchen features all new cabinetry and stone countertops, as well as stainless steel appliances. Finally, new hardwood flooring was installed throughout the property and all three bathrooms were renovated, including the luxurious master bathroom.
