NEW YORK AVENUE, JERSEY CITY
New York Avenue, located in the Heights section of Jersey City near Riverview Park, offered the Dixon Projects team the opportunity to transform a dated two-family dwelling into a spacious, modern single family home.
When the property was purchased in April 2013, it was barely in habitable condition, had a poorly designed layout and adjoining bedrooms that made the home feel cramped and constricted.
To remedy the layout issues, each floor was strategically altered to maximize the living space for the newly converted single family home. The ground floor was transformed from a one-bedroom apartment into two massive bedrooms, complete with ensuite bathrooms for each bedroom and a private laundry area. The parlor level was reconfigured to create an open-concept kitchen, living room, and dining area, which flows directly to the deck and backyard area. Additionally, the parlor level features a newly renovated half-bathroom for guests. Finally, the adjoining bedrooms on the top floor were removed to create two spacious bedroom suites, which also both feature private ensuite bathrooms. For the finishing touches, new fixtures and finishes were added throughout the home, and a three-zone central air and heat system was installed, helping to make New York Avenue one of the most outstanding homes in Jersey City Heights.
